 25 meters below the surface of KTH’s campus, a pit in the concrete testifies to the childhood of Swedish nuclear power technology. In this pit lay Sweden’s first nuclear reactor, the research reactor R1.

Reactor Building R1 is a significant landmark in Swedish nuclear history. It was the first nuclear reactor in Sweden and played a crucial role in the country's nuclear research in the 1950s and 60s.

The reactor was decommissioned in 1970 and disassembled in 1982. The R1 reactor hall has since decommissioning been used for other purposes. Since 1998, KTH Royal Institute of Technology has used the former reactor hall as a mix between museum, performance venue, studio, lab etc.

During our visit, we will have the opportunity to explore the reactor building and learn about its history and significance. We will also have a chance to meet and interact with other conference visitors.
